CamWatch

Support

Most problems come down to a setting on the NVR or the device. Here are the common fixes.

Common fixes

CamWatch can't find my cameras

  • Make sure your device is on the same network (Wi-Fi) as the NVR.
  • Check that ONVIF or RTSP is turned on in your NVR's settings. It's usually under Network.
  • Hikvision: create a separate ONVIF user in the NVR and use that username and password in CamWatch.
  • Still nothing? Use Add camera manually in Settings and enter the camera's RTSP link from your NVR's manual.

It says it can't reach the NVR

  • On iPhone or iPad: open Settings → Apps → CamWatch and make sure Local Network is turned on.
  • On Mac: open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network and turn CamWatch on.
  • Check the NVR's address hasn't changed. Your router may have given it a new one; setting a fixed address on the NVR stops this.

The username or password is wrong

Use the same username and password you use for your NVR's own app or web page. Some NVRs lock an account for a few minutes after several wrong tries.

No sound

Not every camera has a microphone, and on some NVRs the sound needs turning on for each camera. CamWatch plays the common sound formats (AAC and G.711).

I've paid, but CamWatch is asking me to unlock it

Open CamWatch's Settings and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure the device uses the same Apple Account you bought it with, or is in the same Family Sharing group.

Watching remotely

You can watch remotely with Tailscale. See the FAQ for a quick guide. Help with Tailscale itself comes from Tailscale's support.
